Before(after WW II)the Rajas of Kupang/Sonbai Kecil were the main royal rulers of the Kupang area.Nowadays this is now more the Foenay dynasty,although the Nisnoni's are still quite important;espacially because of the international contacts of the Kupang Raja.
In 2003 the Fettor of Foenay was one of the 3 candidates to become Governor of Nusa Tenggara Province,but he failed to become it.He is a high development planner of the province.
