Haji Raden Winata Kusuma was installed officially on 15-7-2000 as Pengeran Ratu ,or official chief of the dynasty(for some:nominal-monarch)of Sambas. In his teenage life hew found it very difficult,espacially after the death of his father in 1984,to be one of the highest royals in Sambas,but without any real functioning.Later on with God's help he could shape the pattern of his life and began to develop as a very friendly Prince.Espacailly during the troubles in ca. 2000 between local- amd immigrants people he tried with the help of his historical built charisma to ease the people.His education wents very much towards his future ruling duties.He once told a scholar,that being a King in traditional beautifull royal clothes is a good thing for f.i. the local culture,but also being able to fullfill his duties as a King in a more "working"way is better. One of his aims is to fullfill the duties to his people as a Bupati of Sambas;like the canidate-Sultan of Banjarmasin could see happen in the summer of 2005.(See Banjarmasin posting). The good thing about this monarch,that he isn't to fanatic in his aims,not to soft,not to proud;just a warm and symphatic monarch,who slowly but surely develops a good character to become a traditional and "modern" leader for Sambas. May God help him in that.
